Engine Wash prior BSI with Juniper Washing Rig

For the most accurate results during a Borescope Inspection (BSI) in dusty environments, we strongly advise an Engine Wash. This procedure removes particulate matter, improving tremendously visual clarity during BSI. Additionally, the engine wash decreases Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) margins, making the days of the Engine Health/Trend Monitoring Team easier and decreasing possible overtemperature scenarios.

We supported on that mater and did perform CFM56-5B engine wash ,ground time(TAT) was short, then Juniper’s 2×25 Gallon Compressor Washing Rig (JMP/CFM56/D/4777/C200), and long engine probes (JMP/CFM56/D/6527) used in conjunction with the Trailer Mounted Containment Mat was our choice.

Preparing the CFM56-5B engine is a simple PS3 disconnect from the FADEC and A/ICE Valve Sense Line disconnection which is accessible from the opening of a RH fan cowl. It has long engine probes, which take only minutes to fit, are then inserted through the exhaust and hooked behind the fan, directing hot water straight into the booster. As easy as that.

Washing time takes only 20-25 minutes followed by the post wash test in accordance with AMM.
Waste water from the wash is collected using our containment mat, which is conveniently mounted on a purpose built Juniper trolley (JMP/KYOTO/D/6777/C200) and is easily deployed under the engine to prevent any waste water entering the hangar drainage system.
